Keeping Sobriety First- in Front of Everything
Permalink

Good Morning to all,

Just wanted to make a Post on some wise words, that almost went over my head at first. But when I was able to Retain these words in early Sobriety, they saved my life.

"If you Keep Your Sobriety First, in E V E R Y T H I N G, you will be able to KEEP IT."

"If you Place A N Y T H I N G in front of it, unfortunately, chances are you will Not be able to Keep it"

These words that were told to me 16 and a half years ago, have made me feel as safe as we can, and that safety can be lost in a New York minute, if I somehow try to rearrange those words.

It works, if you Work it, the Program of Alcoholics Anonymous. The 12 Steps of this
Program are the way out of the Disease of Alcoholism.

Hope everyone is having a good day, just wanted to reaffirm my own Recovery Program for myself this morning, need to do a little "sweep up" on my side of the Street.

Toni

I heard this too at one of my first meetings.  It has helped me.  When in doubt, put your sobriety first and everything else will fall into place.  That has worked for me.

Hi Justin,

Where does the HP fit in? was your question, well Sobriety is a fully emcompassing thing, Sobriety to me translates to the Program, the working of the 12 Steps, and in there, is where you will find HP.

My Higher Power whom I choose to call God, is really in my heart, as the Director of this 12 Step Program. This is a Spiritual Program, only. Thats my take.

Without my Higher Power, there would be no Sobriety, which is the Program of A.A. and the Steps, that are critical to the Recovery of all Alcoholics.

Hugs, Toni

Hi Justin,

My error really, No mention of HP in Sobriety................ we would have nothing.

Lessons, Lesson, and then Lessons.

Toodles, Toni
