Was well upset on my walk with charlie dog, saw a toad at the side of the road and I love animals and all other creatures apart from wasps, so I bent over to stroke its back, then charlie got excited and trod on it, this scared the toad, and it hopped away strait across the road and at that precise moment a car was coming down and squashed it!!

I was so upset, I do not often cry. I did what I thought was the right thing and I took it back home and buried it in the back garden and said a little prayer and shed a tear.

Not many things get me genuinely upset but this did it for me, but I feel comfort that I did the right thing for the toad.

I have contacted the council and put in a request "I have seen no end of frogs/toads being ran over on hawthorne avenue and also Thoresby Road, please could you put up a sign saying frogs crossing, so that drivers can beware."

Your sensitivity and respect for other living things is far above average, my friend.  And, I respect that.  However, you are not responsible for that death, any more than you can change the direction of the wind. Many of the circumstances of this universe are of a design far beyond our comprehension.

Your AA friend in North Dakota,

Dan

Dear Sweet Robert,

You know this is one of those days when Shit Happens and you just don't know what's ahead for you regarding this experience. It may represent an illustration to you that Yesterday is Gone, Today is a New Day and Tomorrow is a Mystery. You just really never know what's going to happen next.

It definitely shows that you have compassion. It's also great with the girls to see sensativity, if you know what I mean.

Just hand it over to God,, because the Toad is in someone's garden in Heaven. So it's all good.

Take It Easy,

Love Julie Dene....

Good Morning Robert,

This Post took me back to a memory that will stay with me forever. I was 2l, taking a walk in the Hills of Waikiki, and was standing on a corner, waiting for the light to change. Saw three young boys, 10 - 12 years old across the street, laughing and yelling, they had cornered a large Bull Frog, and had fould a large Spear of some kind, and had punctured it in the back. I was horrified, and freightened, there were 4 or 5 boys and I was too afraid to approach them. But as I write this, I can still feel that overwhelming nausia, that I felt at these horrible actions of these young boys.

There was a loud screaming fight next door to me, 2 or 3 racoons, and one was left behind in this large lot, yelling in Pain. It was 3:00 am in the Morning, got on the Phone, for about 1 1/2 hours trying to find a rescue patrol person. When they finally called me back, and I told them the injured animal was a "Racoon" they said sorry,
we don't have the man power, we will come in the Morning.

Seems that mankind has made a separation as to what animal is worthy of saving and which ones can just suffer. Depressing.

Powerlessness, is the conclusion I come to.

have a great day, and your efforts in this have so much Compassion, thank you for this Post.

Toni.

Morning Robert...and to all of you...

Never used to have much compassion about anything...self centered to the core...

In the last 2 weeks Ive hit 2 deer on highways...couple of rabbits..and a porkypine...and a lot more... that Ive had to swerve, to avoid...I dont feel good about it...at all...and I dont know about you guys..but these things stick with me for a long time...in the memory bank..

A few short months ago..I hit a beautiful big German Shephard...on an icy highway...the second one on ten years...

I carried that dog to the owners front door..and watched as a mother and 2 kids cried their eyes out...and yup...me too..

I guess all Im trying to share here..is that...I never used to give a shit...

Its great to be able to feel and express the  happy and good emmotions...but it also goes along with the sad ones too.

Shit happens...I guess its as simple as that....and we deal with it...as best we can...

Have a good day...

Hi Robert. I too had an event involving an animal and a vehicle (I was the driver). No point in getting upset about it. As Dan said, you are not responsible for the accident, and as Julie said, some days s*it happens.

Writing to the council has had some success in some areas of the UK regarding 'animal crossings', however it really is down to how people drive and if they care what they hit.

You are NOT a killer.

Bye for now.

Best wishes.

Chris.
