Hi all,

As an Alanoner, I always have many questions about what my AH does. We use to move every 2-3 years. Then we lived in one location for 10 years. One day he walked in and said he wasn't happy and wanted to move. This move was harder for me because I had 2 little babies and had a wonderful job. Now that I look back I don't think that he expected me to move with him. We moved again after 2 years. Once we moved to our present location he changed jobs within the company several times although we have stayed here 18 years. Last summer he just walked out the door to another town. Said he didn't want to be married. He has been sober a long, long time. Sober or dry drunk why changing the geographic locations?

In support,

Nancy

Experience?

Wasnt happy with external circumstances...or so I thought...and yup...dry drunk..and masks, of fear...and insecurities....that turned into "trying to control" issues..

And if we move, to another location..things will get better, and I will feel better..

Slackened off meetings...and quit working program...and went backwards..Isolated into myself..

Was nothing more than...running away from me...and avoiding truths..

It caught up eventually...

Sorry to hear the pain this Alcoholic has put you through.

"No matter where you go.........There you are" Something that Alcoholic tend to forget,
when there are losing their own grip on Recovery. "Restless, irritable and discontent",
is a guarantee of what slacking off of the Recovery Process, can and will do.

And when those above feelings set in, Alcoholics, just like Phil said, will believe that a change in geographics, will open up a new and happier life. Part of the Illness of the Disease of Alcoholism.

Again, feel for you and Pain that has been dumped in your lap.

Alanon members I am sure must be helping, at least I hope they are.

Hugs to you,

Toni

I heard a man say at a meeting yesterday, "I will always be grateful to this Program, but I will never say I am a Grateful Alcoholic, hurt too many people, that did not ask for it".

God Bless You dear.
