Glad you asked robert!!!  To surrender hmm it means I cease fighting anything and everything,  according to Webster's Dictionary it states that surrender is to give up under compulsion,  relenquish.   And so as it states on pgs 84-85 of the B/B  "We have cesed fighting anything or anyone even alcohol.  For by this time sanity has returned.  We can now react sanely and normally,  and we find that this has happened almost automaticly.  We see that this new attitude toward liquor is really a gift of God.  Thant is the miracle of it.  We are not fighting it,  neither are we avoiding temptation.  We have not even sworn off.  Instead,  the problem has been removed.  It does not exist for us.  We are niether cocky nor are we afraid."  In how it works it states "some of us have tried to hold on to our old ideas and the result was nil untill we let go absolutley."   This means Robert that when I surrender this to my h.p.  which I choose to call God,  I dont have to fight it anymore because I am powerless I have to surrender every day because I'm human I wanna do t hings my way,  but u know that thinkin got me drunk and kept me drunk for years.  So in sobriety I have to change,  like it tells me in the B/B my attitudes,  thoughts, reactions,  ideas.  "Only through utter defeat are we able to take our first steps toward lberation and strength.  Our admissions of personal powerlesness finally turn out to be firm bedrock upon which happy and purposful lives may be built."  Let Go and Let God, its that ezy

Surrendering for me was also asking for help.  From people and from my HP.  When I decide to hand something over to God I will sometimes write it down.  That way when I start getting uptight about it I can say to myself..."No, you handed that one over.....remember??  Now LET IT GO!"

I have surrendered to the fact that I am an alcoholic....I can't drink like other people.  The only way I really end up surrendering anything is after I have tried and failed to fix it myself, change it myself, or do it myself.  Trial and error I guess.  It is easier for me to turn it over then....but it is a longer, tougher journey as well.  Hope some of this helps....

Have a good night!

Jen
