Have been off for a while with an on going back complaint, the last time I had more than a week off sick was well over a year ago, work were extremly nasty and rude to me, when i returned and I ended up having to get the union involved.
I am back tomorrow and nervous that they may be nasty again.
the procedure is as follows if you have 3 sicknesses in 6 months you have a meeting with your line manager, 4 in 6 months its a meeting with the managers manager.
This is my 3rd sickness in 6 months, the other two were 1/2 a day with a bad back and 2 days with a cold. but when I get back I have a meeting with my managers manager. this is not the procedure,. I am a little worried, I am, thinking of taping the meeting, so if they do abuse me again - I will this time have proof,. perhaps they will sack me?
I have been an outpatient at the hospital and attended every week, and the Dr signed me off, I am not faking it.
Might be quite cool taping them cos if they give you a load of shit and say something they shouldnt then it would be handy to have it. But i rekon if you did do that not to tell them there and then but make a copy first. Especialy if things need the unions help ..
Thing is if you've got all the doctors certificates/letters etc and its all proved then i dont see alot they can say.
I guess it depends how long you've been off etc. I remember a girl at my last work, poor cow she hurt her back, i think at work, and she was off for litterealy months and months and months, maybe even a year and they kept her job open but the first morning she came back after all that time i saw her crying and sitting down with people around her cos her back was still knackerd, infact i think thats how i knew she was back. I think after that the company had to let her go. But i dont know the exact details.
If its not an extreme amount of time and you have all the doctors letters etc and youve attended all the physios or whatever then they will probably just spout hot air at you.. Trying to play on your morals and "letting the team down" crap. Iv been in meetings for sickness, i think they were real ones not drunk sicknesses, years ago and i rem the branch manager saying about my time off, it was same as yours 3 sicknesses in 6 months = meeting. He was saying about its not good and it lets the team down and blah blah blah, like trying to put some sort of emotional thing on me.. just to get a few poxy bottles of soft drinks on the shelf. I said "well what can i do? If i can work i will work but if im too ill to work what do you want me to do?".. I said " I cant just come to work if im unable to..!".. And i saw him flick into the have to say this cos its legaly required mode "No ones saying that you should come in to work if you are sick..."... Hmm i think thats exactly what you are saying, i thinks to myself.. He kind of fizzles out at this point cos he realises his argument is over.. He was a twat anyway.
