Thanks to all of you who responded to my post "Did I Have A Slip." I didn't feel like I did but being an alcoholic I feel guilty about just about everything! I did talk to my sponsor and she didn't think I did. What I learned from it is to not even go there. I will have to be satisfied with ibprofin (spelling). It's just too hard to have to deal with taking narcotics, even prescribed. Thanks again.
Was thinking of you the other day when I was talking to an Oral Surgeon, asked him what to have on hand, told him I am a Recovery Alcoholic/Addict, and he suggested 600 Milligrams of Motrin, Ibeprofin, Advil, he said they were all the same. And said, even after I told him, he would write an Rx for other Pain Meds, if I wanted.
Well, I told him No, I did that once, took one oxecontin, after some, well I don't want to say it, but I have to, Rectal Surgery, and remember I told you the one pill just put me to sleep, threw the rest out. When they used to do this kind of surgery in that part of the body, it was standard to give Morphine, and a lot of it. We must be pretty tough, cause we can do it without narcotics. I remember those Post Surgery days were pretty blurry in my memory, but not because of any drugs, it is the way the mind does not allow you to remember very painful events in the body, so we have built in solutions, in our own bodies.
Don't need to do that again. NO Narcotics, not even just one, if they don't hear you, cause they dont understand the Addict's delimna, well that's not our problem, just repeat, No, Thank You. I agree, will never do it again.
