Wow, what a weekend with a couple of my sponsees.  One ended up in the hospital sick with some unknown thing.  One ended up homeless with kids.  It's so hard sometimes as a sponsor to know when to step in and help out above the regular taking through the steps, etc... and give some practical aid.  I did spend some time with the one in the hospital, and I'm pretty impressed with the other one, going through what she is and still making sobriety her #1 priority.  She did find somewhere to go, by the way.

I'm kind of excited, because I'm starting a Big Book Step Study for women at my house, basically at this point with my 3 sponsees, hoping to actually not just study, but really work through the steps with them.  I'm thinking of using Dr. Paul's study, but not sure yet.  But these girls/ladies really want to get better!  It's so nice to see they are looking for that.  In the past some sponsees were really hoping to get sober via a "saving relationship" with Mr. Sobriety.  Some just wanted to do their own thing.  It's really nice when someone wants this program as bad as I wanted it when I first came in.

Shoot, in the beginning, had they told me in order to stay sober I'd have to run down the middle of main street naked, I probably would have even taken that suggestion.

Anyhow, just please keep my nameless sponsees in your prayers...it's a rough go for them right now.

Thanks,

Karen

hi, karen,,, thanks for sharing. I was praying for everyone on this board yesterday, and I'll add your sponsees to that. I'm impressed with you,,,  that you are really trying to figure out what is best as far as what role you 'd best play in what situations.  It is so easy to get into codependencies, and to forget that the Steps come first. but it is in learning the program and how to work it that they get the tools to cope with their lives, and not our constant rescuing. Though sometimes practical help is really needed, that is not the norm.

God bless you,

love in recovery,

amanda

Hi Karen, well done to you, sounds like your doind everything right to stay sober! Not sure about running down the main street naked though...... police may object!

Hope you have a good day.

Best wishes

Chris.
