I got a call very late last nite, from my Son, telling me about one of his cousins in the Bay area.
This young man,38, had a sudden seizure, and was in a Rehab. home. Was doing o.k.
Then, one afternoon, he wanted to just get out of this Home, desperate, probably, and just figured out how to walk out the front door.
He just start walking to his house, had walked 6 miles, was walking across a Creek, tripped and fell, hit his head, and died there. No one was able to find him for a week.
Life on Life's terms, can be brutal at times, was thinking of how he might have been waiting there for someone to help him for who knows how long?
So, so sad, and so heart breaking for his wife of 3 years.
Brings the message Home so fast, Live each day, celebrate each moment of Life. So hard to remember.
This story does not have a thing to do with Alcoholism, but I needed to share what was weighing so heavily on my heart this morning.
That is really sad.. Perhaps the blow to the head killed him.. but like you said.. maybe he was lying there unable to move but conscious... now that is scary!.. Poor fucker!.. and yeah his wife.. how would she cope with that..
Hopefully the blow to his head killed him.. least that way he didnt suffer.. and hopefully if that is the case his wife knows that so she doenst have to wonder too.
Very sad. There's a guy in my area who always speaks at meetings about how after he decided to "go out" (for a drink) about 5 years ago... he fell and hit his head. He's brain-damaged big time now but has managed to stay sober since.
Tragic story, almost done it myself (But for the grace of God )
small scar on head and a day in hospital.. I was lucky. Got bone chips floating round my left elbow from another falling over incident. Sure everyone here could tell similar stories and I'm sure we have all known good people who have passed away due to the drink. Doesn't make it any easier.
I Fuc**ng hate this desease.
Got a meeting to go to.
Hope you are all well.
Best wishes
Chris.

TONI, i dont' care if u want to talk about the moon....if something is hurting ur heart, than we care!!! i am SOOO sorry for ur loss......what a sad thing to happen...u r right....life can be brutal....the "sun shines on the just and the unjust" its just life!!!! i am so sorry ((((((((((((((toni)))))))))))))) rosie
I believe in heaven, and that God works all things together for good, and that God doesn't take us until it is our time, and that when it is our time we can't escape it. It's true that no one knows their hour , and we should always live as though each moment were our last.
That he walked out of a rehab makes it about alcoholism.
Thanks for sharing the story.
love in recovery,
amanda
