It seems I can never go thru the Month of March, without honoring the Ides.
They can represent Change, and I usually focus on these Mid month days, as representing something good about to happen, change for the better, is always a good thing. And somehow, if you really believe in something, you can help with the Process of Change.
I am trying to tie this in to the 12 steps of Recovery, for they Do represent constant change for the Better, That is for Sure.
So, I believe that My Higher Power, indulges me, with this Belief. With His Help, all things are possible, all that is required is a Willingness to be Open to Releasing old thoughts, leaving a Space for the new ideas to have a place in our lives.
Just some Trivia from Toni, oh yeah, what about the listening Mode, I promised myself yesterday, well that was Yesterday.
Hope you all have a Wonderful Day,
Hugs, Toni,.....................................Now I will just listen.
Phil, can't believe you were called Flip, thats my wife's name.
One night when I was still drinking, I woke up in the night and mistook her for a bottle of scotch whisky and tried to unscrew her lid (her nose) Luckily I didn't do any damage.
Flip-Flipper (the Bottlenose dolphin)
On the wedding cake we had a dolphin and a mountain goat (I'll leave the goat story to another time!)
Re: Ides of March. Will Shakespear bores the S**# out of me but I think Brutus was innocent! Free Brutus! (LOL).
Bye for now
Chris.

yeah,,, the ides of March,,, when Brutus killed Caesar,,, on the steps there. so it is anniversary of the death of Caesar. I think that is historical fact,, tho Shakespeare wrote about it, isn't it? Not shame on me for telling the truth that that is what this date is about. Now if it were the ides of April it would be a different story. And Toni, you can still believe what you wanna believe.

Was just kidding about not knowing or caring. Ides being the winds that start in March, and go thru Spring. It does facinate me that they always do happen, the winds in the middle of the month.
And yes Brutus was not a good Guy, he was Ceasar's final Betrayal. Dont have a clue why these thoughts always stuck with me. Just like June 6th. D-Day. i always go around wishing everyone "Happy D Day" and they look at me like I'm nuts. (I'm not discounting their opinion- HA HA HA!)
Hope you are have a good day today Amanda,
Hugs, Toni
I completed some difficult paperwork yesterday, that had a deadline to it, and feel so good today, that I have given myself the day - off!!!
Is that what it means? I always thought it meant the hump day of the month, or like a cusp or something. lol oh, well.. I don't know. It sure is windy today... March kite flying weather. There is a certain corner here,,, it's like a wind tunnel.. some years it gets so bad you have to hand on to something real heavy to not get blown away.
Well,, I did find something aabout change there,,, it was that the assassination of Caesar changed everything.
lol I don't know if I'm a bit obsessive / compulsive... no... I do know that I am... and I really enjoy researching something.. it is an adventure. Like the origins and evolution of a word.. like.. I wondered what the verb form of the word 'charity' is.. that was a great study. Right now I'm writing a book,, a biography os St Martin de Porres,, who was a barber-surgeon in 1600. I got curious about the history of the vocation of barber-surgeon and am still researching that... fascinating... seems there was an edict at the 4th Lateran Council of the Holy Roman Empire that decided that clerical physicians should no longer do surgery,,, and it was delegated to barbers to do surgery. Well,,, now my question is why barbers? I have my theories but want some respectable book to quote... am going to the library tomorrow to look at a book called 'Once Over Lightly: The Story of a Man and His Hair' . Did u ever hear of the four humours, black bile, green bile, blood and something, phlegm I think? it goes way back to Hippocrates. So people get called bilious, or sanguine, or phlegmatic. How about this? that one of the latest treatments in the early 17th century was to take a chicken with only black feathers, pluck it and cut the head off, and let the blood drip into a bucket of water,, and then stir it up and apply it? lol and leeches.. lol

Hey Toni...you ask me if I was going to add my 2 cents to this post. Well, I'm having a hard time getting my PC to work...and I think ya'll have about researched this one to the end. I personally don't like the wind in March, or any month and I live in a very windy area.
So, I'm going to say "Goodnight" to you all and thanks for the info.
The ominous warning, "Beware the Ides of March," originated with the Roman ruler, Julius Caesar, who was assassinated on the Ides of March - March 15, 44 B.C.E. If you've heard the ominous warning, then it's most likely due to William Shakespeare and his play, Julius Caesar.
The warning itself was made famous in Shakespeare's play on Julius Caesar, when an unidentified soothsayer tells Caesar, who is on his way to the Senate (and his death), "Beware the ides of March." Caesar replies, "He is a dreamer; let us leave him. Pass."
