"In the late stages of our drinking, the will to resist has fled. Yet when we admit complete defeat and when we become entirely ready to try AA principles, our obsession leaves us and we enter a new dimension - freedom under God as we understand Him."  p.27

I love this book, Amanda.  Just finished reading it for the second time. Each time I open it, I find another gem within the pages. It has so much hope to offer.  Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts. A very valuable read and re-read. Have a happy sober day!

>>>>>>>>i had to totally admit and ACCEPT my defeat with my addictions, and be WILLING to try AA principles--12 Steps--God to be released.....and ONLY when i remain CONNECTED to my hp , do i STAY  physically and emotionally sober.........i think when i experienced the complete defeat,   my ego and will gave in to God........the negative forces are more powerful and active than ever--- so ONLY being in total alignment with my God as i understand him/her/it  is going to work for me......gr8 reminder,   rosie

Hi Rosie and Amanda and ZuZu,

Wow, do I agree with what  you said about this Rosie,  sometimes, like this morning,  the negative thought pattern returns so powerfully,  but thanks to AA, and these easy to understand steps, can immediately "turn this over" to a Higher Power, simply asking for His Grace to, help let go, of old, worn out thought patterns.  Somehow, when we sleep, they creep in, and upon awaking to a beautiful, sun filed morning, there is this awareness of how they do not square up to today, and just as I practiced this very dilligently this morning, looking at my own powerlessness over these initial thoughts, and Thank God, I have the Tools, with Prayer, to dismantle these old, useless negative thoughts. In my opinion they are just a bunch of stuff from that old "Fear Inventory", that was so full, I could bearly keep walking sometime, just wanted to hide from it all.  Well thanks to the concept of "Fear Knocked, Faith Answered, and there was No One there"

The minute I choose to surrender these old fear thoughts to my Higher Power, the do vanish, like being chased right out of my thought pattern, and am restored to a Humble Servant of my Higher Power, and I thank God for this removal.

Today, was a 'duzzy', and had to get in and do some heavy Surrender to Him. And the work does always, leave me with a very Powerful awareness of God working in my Life.  Without Him, my head would still be spinning in "it", but I am writing this from a place of quiet and Peace!

God Bless you all, and God Bless this Forum, where we can come and tell our innermost thoughts.

So happy to hear you holding to these Steps and Traditions, at this very difficult time ZuZu, we learn how to walk with our heads up, and walk forward, in the most powerful storms. Please stay in touch with us.

Grateful and Free, Today,

Toni

And Thank You Amanda for this Post, Just like a good health producing shot by my Doctor. HE is my Doctor too.
