"You learn to speak by speaking, to study by studying, to run by running, to work by working; and just so you learn to love God and man by loving. Begin as a mere apprentice and the very power of love will lead you on to become a master of the art." ~St Francis De Sales
St Francis de Sales said some really great things in his "Introduction to the Devout Life". Thanks for that one, Rick. The thing about 'in-service' training to Love,,, is that not everyone understands it, not everyone wants it,, mistakes can cost dearly. Look what they did to Jesus!
Another thing St Francis de Sales said,, was that we should be positive and patient with ourselves. He said that if we get angry at ourselves for getting angry we are just compounding the anger; that we should say something to ourselves like,, "oh, dear, soul,,, lost our temper again,, well, we shall try again to be more patient and merciful",, instead of, "You got angry again, you idiot!! Are you too hopeless to ever learn? 40 lashes for me". That was what I was doing... getting angry at my self for getting angry. So now I try to be more mellow all around.
love in recovery,
amanda

Rick , I really like this share. Made me think of some things I've learned...forgivness by forgiving...trust by trusting.Couldn't do any of it without the God of my understanding in my life.
