Well i had my usual 4 Skoll Supers (9%) and that was a while ago.. i want another drink.. .. hmm.. the offlicense is open for another 36 minutes.. .... if i buy another drink tomorrow will be a nightmare..
Iv already taken a ONE A NIGHT NYTOL (sleeping tablet aid)... and im feeling really sleepy.. .. but i still have 35 mins to go to chose to have another drink.
Part of me really wants another drink.. Part of me wants to just sleep.. .. Today wasnt too bad.. i drank last night, i got fairly effected but i didnt go overboard and i didnt wake up feeling .. f**ked as i often do.
What do you say to a person who is already drinking who wants another drink? I know you come here to stop drinking,so I guess I should say "don't drink",but would that do any good. You need to stop drinking all the way,not just 4 a night. I got a 15 year old that I'm taking to the hospital in about an hour. She got kicked out of rehab on Sat and was out and running the same day she got out. She has a drug problem and a drinking problem when she can't get drugs. I'v done everything in my power to get her to stop,so now we have to force her into the loony bin because a rehab will not take nor will my insurance pay for yet another stay in rehab. In a way she is lucky because she can be forced to stop until she is 18 or at least i'll keep in trying. But who is going to stop you. Not me,not the board, perhaps if you pary that might help, but really the power is in you and those who also want to stop drinking if you give them a chance. Good luck and I hope you do have a hang over tomorrow. I hope it teaches you that drinking will get you the same old results, drunk and hung over. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just fed up right now with people who willnot even try to help themselves and come to a recovery board already snookered.

Well.. even if it dont seem like it.. making that msg was trying to help myself.. i know have 13 mins till offi closes..
I admit i am weak at mo.. .. but if postin msg on here stops me drinking or atleast postpones it for a while.. i have to see as a headway for myself.. its cuttin back like this that helped me stop last time.. .. i totaly get what you are saying and i totaly sympathise with you and your friend.. sounds like a nightmare..
But iv been told that i can and should post on here as much as i want that may help me.. so here i am.. its down to 11 mins till offi closes.. yeah iv had drink.. but im tryin not to drink more.. pathetic sounding i know. but its how it is.. and im learning to try to accept things as they are... so here i am.. with now 10 mins to go.. as i said may seem pathetic to some people but i am trying.. NOT as hard as i possibly could but better than i was.. so .. ....
Well actually the less i have a hang over the less i want to drink.. cos the worse i feel the more i wana drink to take that away from me..
I know we are each diferent and individual.. so not everything workds for same person.. For some people the worse they feel the more motivated they may be.. .. But for me.. the better i feel the less likely i am to drink!!..
The more hungover i am.. the more tired i am.. and the more tired i am.. the more likely i am to drink cos.. Well sometimes i am too tired to do anything but drink.. sometimes i only have enuf engergy to drink.. or so it seems...hmm 4 mins and offi closed.. .. I AM TRYING..
hey, Rob! hand in there! a couple of more posts will do it. I really know how you feel. When I feel like drinking and it is off hours,,, I get on here too. and I make a call... Sometimes it is a minute at a time.....

But i made it past the offi closing time.. I have been drinking..but i didnt go for more drink.. people can think what they want about that.. and yeah obv not drinking would be the ideal situation. but.. well I AM WEAK.. .. ok im admitting it!!..
But i didnt go for more alcohol.. i am trying to be possitive.. possitive leads to confidence and confidence helps in everything..
Sounds SO much like what I used to do. Looking at the clock, state store is closing soon. Do I have to drink tonight ...do I need more... better get there before it closes.
Put my coat on and start out the door, then struggle back inside .. NO I won't drink tonight. ... 5 minutes later ...Look at clock again, put my coat back on and start out the door, then struggle back inside .. What a HORRIBLE obsession. Let it go man. Admit defeat. Go to sleep or whatever gets you through the night and it will pass. Then start getting to AA meetings and talking about it. Everybody know that feeling.
Your words do help me.. just seeing couple of your responses makess me feel so much better....insecurity i know.. but this is how it makes me feel..
Thanx guys. I do feel like i made an acievment tonight.. i SOO wanted to drink and i could have loads of times.. but i didnt.. .. so although i have been drinking i will wake up ok tomorrow....
I'm glad we helped, Rob. Now... as was said,, other things to do to keep you and your mind occupied with something good? even it is sleep. and you can continue to post here, shave your beard and moustache in a new way,,, what do guys do when women would be taking a bubble bath? untangle the line on your fishing pole?
love in recovery,
amanda

Well it has been a little while since we have heard from you.
Try to imagine that 100 Recovery Alcoholics each picked up one drink, they would have the same thought pattern that you now have. How do I get more Alcohol, would be the primary thought process of any Alcoholic that had returned into Grip of this Disease, some might run back to the rooms of AA, and some would Drink Alcohol, just like those Experimental Mice and Rats, when given the Choice of either Food, or Heroin, will quick consume all the Heroin, leaving the food in the dish, and soon Die.
Same scenario, with my own background in this Disease, if I EVER Picked up just one Drink, I would drink until I was dead, or just praying to be Dead, with Brain Damage. I really don't know that, but I do Fear that, and that is why I hold my own Sobriety as the most Cherished thing in my life today. It needs to stay in First Place until my own end. One of my strongest Prayers, is to Die Sober.
We have mentioned before, when you were dealing with some 8 sober days, that this Board would not be able to sustain your Early Recovery, at least in my opinion, and that you would have a better change at holding some sober days together in a Meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. Then there are also Men's Recovery Homes, that can also really help you, if you can find your back into Wanting to Stop. The Desire to quit drinking is the Key component, which you had only 2 weeks ago. And now you cannot find your way back to that Desire.
Try to take what I am going to say to you IN:That is the DISEASE TALKING TO YOU.
In the Book of Alcoholics Anonymous is talks about a man that had several years of Sober Living, working all the Steps, doing all he could do to remain Sober, then a business trip took him out of town. He was sitting in a Dining Room in a Hotel, and a Waiter asked if he would care for a drink. The insane thinking, that comes with this Disease, set in and he thought to himself, "Im out of town, no one will know", and with that he order what he called "just one drink", and because he liked Scotch Wiskey, straight, he asked the waiter to add milk to the "one drink", thinking that would make it less of a threat, I guess. Anyway, he talks about how that "First Drink" ended several days later, in a town, that he did not have a clue as to how he got there. He was one of the lucky ones, he made it back to the AA Program, to his friends and family that all loved him, he was very fortunate.
This Disease that you have and this Disease that we share with you, is a very Cunning and Baffling and So Powerful Disease.
You are also living in the same house with other Active Alcholics, that alone is one of the reasons I mentioned to you, a Men's Recovery Home, could be a solution to you. you are a young man, and have choices in your life.
If you had been diagnosed with a Life Threatening Disease, that was Treatable, would you DISREGARD the Treatment, or would you go for the Treatment, to save you life.
I see you in the above Light.
Simple Question: The Answer my Friend is Inside You,
My love and Prayers go out to you, that you will seek Treatment, This Disease is Treatable.
Pick up that 100 lb. telephone the next time you have a Desire to Quit. Go to a meeting when that happens. Hope is Waiting .........for You! Simple solution to regaining that Desire, ask God to help you get it back, or a Higher Power of your Understanding.

I just couldn't imagine going to bed without having booze in the house. ( when I was drinking) I WOULD NEED IT DURING THE NIGHT AND IN THE MORNING
I was powerless over the alcohol and powerless to do battle against it. I WAS JUST PLAIN POWERLESS. I NEEDED A POWER GREATER THAN MYSELF TO RELIEVE THE OBSESSION.
I FOUND IT THRU AA
GOOD LUCK
I TRIED THE CUTTING, THE CONTROL, AND ALL THE THINGS THE BOOK TALKS ABOUT.
I GUESS TONI SAID IT ** THIS IS A DISEASE**IT IS ARRESTED SPIRITUALLY ON A DAILY BASIS BY NOT TAKING THE FIRST DRINK.
GRAB YOURSELF A BIG BOOK AND READ THE DOCTORS OPINION IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE SO.
IT WILL GIVE YOU AN IDEA WHAT YOUR UP AGAINST IF YOUR A REAL ALCOHOLIC
