That's so awesome, Kaz! Doesn't it feel good?!! It just gets better and better.

I remember about 10-12 years ago, somehow, I managed to quit drinking AND quit smoking (cigs...I was never really big on pot) for a whole year. I wasn't using AA or anything else, I just kinda quit...it just happened. One day I said "I'm not gonna drink today". And the next day, I said the same thing, and a couple of days turned into a couple of weeks turned into a couple of months. It wasn't really that hard at that time, because my alcoholism hadn't progressed to the stage where it was a big deal to quit. Anyway, I remember going to visit an ex-girlfriend, and she asked me how I felt, and I told her how much clearer everything was. Not just my mind, but even my vision. The whole world just seemed more colorful and real, and well, just CLEAR.

Why I went back to drinking after a year of being off the sauce is a whole nother story, but, the point is, that as you get deeper and longer into your sobriety, you're gonna notice how much clearer everything in life is. I felt like when I was drinking, everything was in a fog, even when I wasn't drunk.

so, I drank for another 10 years, but this time, when I quit, I needed some help. That's why I come here, and go to meetings, and try to hang out with people who don't drink (or only drink occasionally). I'm a little over a year without drink.

Really glad to hear you're doing well. One day at a time. (ODAT). The past is gone and done, the future is unknown, so, all we have is today. And what a better day it will be if we don't drink.

Thanks for the great news Kaz, ...

so happy to hear things are working out, not just the house situation, but your sobriety for sure ... you have a strong, caring, and loving man beside you, I pray you both remain strong in recovery and that your daughter has the family closeness that she needs to have a happy life ...
