If we have some moral, religious, or spiritual aware- ness from our past lives, we are better prospects for this program. When we reach bottom, at this crucial moment of total defeat that prior awareness almost instinctively turns us to grasp whatever elements of faith are left. Whatever reserves of morality and faith are left deep in our hearts will rally to our help. Have I had this spiritual consciousness?
MEDITATION FOR THE DAY
Onlookers wonder when they see a person who can unexpectedly draw large sums of money from a bank for some emergency. But what they did not see were the countless small sums paid into that bank, earned from faithful work for a long period beforehand. So it is with the spirit. The world may see a person make a sudden demand on God's power, and that demand is met. The world doesn't see what that person has been putting in, in praises, thanksgivings, prayers, communion, small good deeds, faithfully and steadily over the years.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY
I pray that I may keep making deposits in God's bank. I pray that in my hour of need I may call upon these with assurance.
