A friend told me about this site and I've been poking around and you seem like a great bunch. I'm from upstate New York and have been sober since 10/23/2004. It took 3 years to get this 1 back when I relapsed after being sober for almost 7 years. I hadn't had my last drink and I pray each day that I 've had it now.
I hope to learn a lot from the ES&H I see here and will try to add a bit of my own.
I'm new too, and yes, this seems great to me! I've had a lot of trouble accepting my alcoholism, but I think I finally see myself for what I am. And this board helps me. Just like my rehab groups, the people here seem to be very nice, caring and honest. So much unlike many people who are not addicts! I may have wondered at first why I went to rehab (voluntarily even), and why I attended my first AA meeting today, but the more I hear others' stories, the more I see I fit in-and I don't mind that! People are so wrong to stigmatize alcoholics and other addicts-to me, they are actually some of the nicer folks around!
Hope we'll both post a lot here and learn even more!
Thanks for the warm welcome! I love the way we're represented, from the far north to the deep south and everything in between LOL. No boundaries in recovery.
