Got home last night from detox, and had I known I could feel this good I would have given up drinking years ago.
I am thankful I dried out without any serious side effects (had some blood presssure problems, but they were quickly remedied), but unfortunately, several of the other patients were very, very sick. To see someone bedridden, shaking, miserable, sweating, all from this insidious disease, is heartbreaking.
Those of you who are looking on, those of you who are heavy or daily drinkers who are thinking about quitting, PLEASE do so under medical supervision. So many things can happen to your body once you come off the sauce, and most of it's not very good. Please take this advice to heart, and God bless. M
Be sure to fasten your seatbelt, however, because taking the ride on the sober side, can be a lot like a rollercoaster. Course, then again so is life. The trick to it all, through all the ups and downs, and hair-raising turns, is to try remember to enjoy the ride.
Welcome back! I went through the same thing and sobriety is a true blessing. I now have my first month of sobriety. Some days it feels like I have been sober forever. Other days it seems like it was just yesterday that I was in detox. I also had a scary moment with my blood pressure in detox (I passed out because it was so low). Now that I am sober, I feel great. Keep up the work and enjoy every day sober. Now that I am not sick every morning, I don't even want to think about drinking alcohol again.
Welcome back Mikel, I'm so glad to hear things went well, and you didn't have to go through some of the things others had too.Are you doing the 90 meetings in 90 days? It helps to get you on the right track.
I'm doing as many meetings as I can, including my first meeting yesterday. Whether I make ninety in ninety days I cannot say, but I know I'll come pretty darn close (have to travel, so on those nights I'll probably go online for meetings or discussions). Can't believe how good I feel a week after turning off the juice. Hugs back at ya. M
