All I can do, Kay, is answer your questions as they pertain to me, share my experiences, lend an ear, be supportive and always care. The rest is up to you.

Good luck, Sweetheart. I pray you do the right thing, whatever it may be for you.

Hugs.

Kay, we are here for you. I would like to suggest you try to find an AA meeting that has young adults and teens that attend it. You can call the national phone number or look in your local phone directory, sometimes there are meeting listed in the newspaper.

Doll's right , it's up to you.

Hi Kay, I'm Dan and I'm an alcoholic.

I know it may sound tough to think about not drinking to ease your problems, or drink to feel more at ease at parties.  I regret that I didn't even think of alcohol being a problem when I was 18, because, I gotta tell ya, it's even harder to give up after you have woven it into the fabric of your life for 10, 20, or 30 years.

Try to find an Alateen group if there is one available near you, or see if you can find one on-line.  Not saying that you have to rush to join, just get some of their literature, maybe listen in on a meeting.  Sometimes, it can just help hearing the stories of others who are going through the same thing.

I have two beautiful daughters about 10 years older than you, and I thank God every day that they didn't fall into alcohol addiction as I did.

Keep checking in here honey.. there are people who care, like Doll, Gammyrose, and wantneeda (Wendy),who can share with you where they were at 18, and what they went through.

My mistake when I said to check Alateen.  That is a branch of the Alanon group.

GammyRose had the straight scoop for you when she suggested looking for a group of AA for young adults.

As I said earlier, the two ladies posting on this topic page, do care, and can share with you what kind of bad ride alcohol can put you through from 18 onward.

Hi Kay,

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here. One of the first people I had the honor of sponsoring was 14 when she came into AA, she had just had enough of the life by then. Her main complaint also was that there weren't many young people in AA and how did she stay sober and maintian her friendships with people her age? She ended up changing her whole groups of friends when she got sober, but also brought some of her friends into the program. There are sober or non-using people out there...they're the ones you never hung out with when drinking. Give it a chance...I look forward to seeing you here.

Call the AA group in your town...

Love cheri

ALL I CAN SAY IS I HAD A CHANCE AT A YOUNG AGE.  MY DAD GOT SOBER WHEN I WAS STARTING TO PARTY HEAVY. I WENT TO A MEETING AND THOUGHT I WAS TO YOUNG????  FEAR KEPT ME SOBER A LITTLE WHILE AND THE DRINK AND DRUGS RETURNED. I WON'T DO THE COMPLETE DRUNK LOG.  HOWEVER I GOT YEARS OF SOBRIETY AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND WENT BACK OUT. THE NEXT TO LAST TIME I WAS OUT 7 YEARS. YOU HAVE A GOOD CHANCE.  SOME OF THE REST OF US BLEW 20-30 YEARS DRUNK. YOU ONLY HAVE TO STOP ONCE AND YOU WILL HAVE A WONDERFUL LIFE

WISH U THE BEST  RICK
