You say, "Yes, I'm willing. But am I to be consigned to a life where I shall be stupid, boring and glum, like some righteous people I see? I know I must get along without liquor, but how can I? Have you a sufficient substitute?"
Yes, there is a substitute and it is vastly more than that. It is a fellowship in Alcoholics Anonymous. There you will find release from care, boredom and worry. Your imagination will be fired. Life will mean something at last. The most satisfactory years of your existence lie ahead. Thus we find the fellowship, and so will you.
"Oh, I see." said the blindman.
Hello to all and a big welcome to newbies or anyone calling in.
Hey Nic, You are so right , there is an substitute. We had such a good time at our monthly AA and Al-anon dinner before the birthday meeting the other night. It is such a joyful time, just relaxing and showing the newcomers we can enjoy ourselves.
Sometimes meetings get a bit serious, as they should because this is a life or death deal. But, it doesn't always have to be that way.I went and watched a few of the guys from our Thurs. group play tennis the other night , talk about laughing, my sides hurt after that one, and I didn't even pick up a racket.
I have been sorrounding myself with positive people latley, so I will not fall into that poor me , pity pot mode. I had a sponsor who always told me when I talked to her I had 3 minutes on the pot and then I had to wipe and get on with other things. That has stuck ...it helps.
I hope you have a very peaceful, serene , sober day on the farm...or at least a sober day!How the wayward goat?
All is well here. Just got a new job offer that has me very motivated. Will post on that again later. Life is kinda hectic, but I am grinning my way through it - so all is well. Gotta go milk now Gammy, and yeah...she is cute and friendly again now...have just about forgotten about her cantankerous side. lol
