Shoe polish melted down and strained through a cloth...after shave....anything with alcohol content...

Had to add a dab of coke for flavour...

Was one sick dude.:)

Before that?

Triple whiskey with a dab of ginger..

Sports jacket and tie..

Wouldnt want anyone to know I had a problem..right? lol

For the last 5 or 6 years, I could only drink beer.  One shot of hard liquor would immediately send me into a blackout, and I blacked out on beer frequently as well.  I don't think what we drank is that important as where it took us and talking about specific "favorites" may be romancing the drink, kinda like a couple unsuccessful suicidals discussing their favorite handgun.weirdface

My favorite was beer but you could catch me pouring red drinks on the bar and snorting them up with straws through my nose yelling "Give me a red drink" as I ran my face up and down across the sticky old butchers wood bar.

Do you two Newbies know each other? You both seem to have an instant rapport! Bud, is your name meant to have the onomatopoeic quality of pouring liquid? ;) I hope you both enjoy MIP. I've enjoyed your presence already & also enjoyed the discerning & respectful replies you've had to your posts. Allay my suspicion! Happy Sober Day :) Danielle x

First question I remember being asked as i settled (if you can say that) into detox by another very sober man of 4 days was" Whats your drug of choice? Without knowing the lingo, without batting and eye and only a couple seconds to go down a list of drugs I'd done my reply shot back, Budweiser.:)

See I was an upscale drinker, no National bohemian and crap for me. I drank the King of Bears and my companions were just as royal. All around me crowded four queens to the left of me, four Roses to my right. They wanted to be my lovers but I knew When you say Budweiser "you've said it all"

I kinda like war stories for what its worth. They are the thing that makes me say "hey, I'm like these people." People that were looking for direction from God and doing fearless self searching were definitely NOT LIKE ME. :) I had a real notion that this tack might work but I would only go to such extremes if I became convinced that I was like them enough to warrant such drastic measure.

Those kind of measure were for last gasps of a drowning man. A fevered grasp and clutching at straws of any substance that might hold me up for one more breath till I could get this under control. I like the innernet. It seems to me that people not as far gone as I could excercise some anonymity earlier in the game. Long before I cam to AA I was curious about alcohol. I thought I might be in its grasp but was to embarrassed to go to a meeting and whatnot.

If I was young, I don't think I'd waste my time trolling AA forums unless I thought I might be having a problem myself or suspecting it in people around me. I could be wrong. You get a lot of trollers here?

Hey Phil shoe polish. Really Now?? Sport Jacket and tie? Was it yours :):)

Vodka straight out of the half gallon, chased with beer (to cover the smell) Did not taste good, but had a hell-of-a kick. Sad part was that my 5 year olds where useually at my feet. I would say hey look at that, and tip up that bottle. I have to remember these lonely and desperate times, It keeps me a little green. If I do not remember why I quit, or I will try to convince my self I may not have a problem.

My list in order of appearance. Less dates and time periods.

1) Coors Light
2) Keystone Light
3) Coors Light
4) Crown Royal
5) Rich & Rare
6) Coors Light
7) Lone Star Light
8) Keystone Light

Notice the financial status reflected in brand choices and flavors?
You may also notice "light." I was health conscious during my self destruction.

Wasnt going to reply to this one because like doll said :dangerous!!!"
But as I sit here at 2am, cant sleep, thought what the hay....

Give me a good old bottle of red wine! (or 2)
I always picked them by the alcohol content and if the label was cool!!!
"Sin Zin" was the best!!!!!!

Good reminder of regressing to the $3.55 plastic bottle that would fit in my purse, cheap ass vodka!!!!! I think eventually my husband and kids found those bottles hidden in the kids old halloween stuff in the basement!!! Embarrassing! (thank God they only found a few of the ones I had hidden about the house!!!)

Someone commented at a meeting that she was mad they kept coming up with all these new fun drinks! Mad she never got to try a chocolate martini!!!! Can relate cuz I saw an awesome looking fun drink on the "elephant bar" menu the other day!!!!

So now, on to the oh-so-good, whipped creamed, fattening lattes of starbucks!

oooooh the list is endless!
