After being sober for a year and 3 months..and things getting toooo good..
This kid picked up a drink....and it was another 4 years...before loosing everything, and everyone, that there was to loose..that I was lead back to you..
About this time of day...all alone in a small farmhouse..I admitted complete defeat...looked towards the sky..and said..
"If there is any kind of a God out there? Please help me." There was...and "HE has" (as I understand Him)
Its been a rough road...at times in sobriety...but due to character defects, instincts run riot, and looking for love in all the wrong places..plus stubborness...and trying to fix you and not me...I hold myself responsible, for travelling that rough road. And if we dont go down some of those rough roads..we dont learn..or grow...even tho some of those roads are pretty painful growing experiences.
And it doesnt matter how many days that we have been here....each day is a new day...and there are always trials to go through, and things to learn.
It took a long time to get rid of a lot of the self centered bullshit, that some of us carry...and learn what giving with love from the heart, really meant...without having ulterior motives, or a hidden agenda..
And the saying...that "Its not all about ME ME ME...Its by giving to others that we get back tenfold.
This board, and the people on it, have saved this kids life a few times...
Im grateful for that...
There were a lot of dark tunnels along the way...and it was you guys that kept saying..that there is a light...hang tough..and held me up..when I could not do so..on my own.
Thanku for that..
Just came through a biggy, with leukemia...and there is a big light shing...at the end of that tunnel.
Christmas Eve...I was hooked up again, with a beautiful lady...after going through some relationship growing up stuff...
I had the opportunity to cook a turkey supper for 3 grown up kids and their boyfreinds and girlfreinds...
My email joke list is a mile long, and a bunch of you are on it...
Life is good...
Think Ill stick around for a few more days....
Just to bug your Butts...
Hope each one of you got through the season unscathed...
This is the first day of a new life...
Onward and upward!! And keep on truckin!!
Love you all!!

I been down some of them roads you are talkin about and the people ...HP....and the program...have taught me that its ok to expierince these thing as long as i dont drink ...and learn from my mistakes and i am still learning with 5475 one day at a time ...so thank you phil for still giving back .
Thank you Phil, for being here and for your words of encouragement. It has not been an easy road back for me, but I'm very grateful to have discovered this board a few months ago at a time when I was almost ready to throw it all away again. Today, I have hope that it will get better. Please keep coming back; we need you.
Wow Phil: What an awesome share. You really touched me with your heartfelt feelings and honesty! Thank you so much for that!! I do so admire your courage and your upbeat attitude towards life! What doesnt kill us makes us stronger!
Just got back from a ski trip with the kids! The slopes were great and we had an unbelievably good "family" time together. Kids enjoyed it and said thanks many times! What a blessing we shared this vacation sober with our kids and I think they said "thanks" more for that than anything.
My younger bro is in the program now (and girlfriend) and his bday is on new years eve! This is the first year I can ever remember sharing his bday with him. We bought him a giant cake and put 42 candles on it! The whole kitchen was a glow! When he walked in we had all the candles lite and sang happy bday to him! The look on his face was PRICELESS!!!!! He had tears in his eyes and the biggest grin Ive ever seen!!!! If all of this doesnt make sobriety worth it, I dont know what does!!!!
I too, thank all of you for sharing this awesome experience called life with me!!! It is sooo GOOD!!!!
Love ya's Happy 2008!!!! Lani
