Excited about a meeting tonight. I have not been to one in without being dragged in months, and it feels so good to know that after my relapse, I am going "Home" tonight.

Topic: How can i keep my appreciation of meetings, and keep GOING even after things get "normal" again?

Thanks.

Hi Joni,

I hope this helps. In early sobriety I got a motorcycle to ride to meetings on. It made it special for me to go to meetings. It never got old and 18 years later I'm still riding to meetings. Now that might not be in your plans but you can find something cool like that that you enjoy. Heck maybe get a convertible and drop the top on the way to meetings. Meetings are a luxury, that you'll come to find out, not everybody has close by. Other things were going out for coffee after the meetings with people from the group. That evolved into dinners, bowling and all kinds of stuff. The main ingredient in "The Fellowship" is the Fellowship. That's your new family, get to know them and they you.

Thanks Dean! We just sold our motorcycle this spring, because no one rode it. Convertible is out, as I live in Ohio. For years I too did the coffee and dinner and such after meetings. I am just such an isolater now! I am headed to an afternoon meeting today, and meeting a girlfriend there, so that will be nice. Easy Does It for me. I guess I am just not much into "fun" anymore. That is a big problem, because drinking and using is definitely not any fun at ALL. So I guess it is all in how I PERCEIVE it, right? Perception is off, and definitely need to get back to having some fun in AA again this time.

Thanks for the replies!

Joni
