Hi eveyone ! Havent posted in awhile , but Im still sober and just made 5 Mos. (again). In the 14 years of being in the program , Ive heard some things that were so funny they made me cry , Yet they were SO true ! I thought I would post 2 of the best ones . I hope you might post some youve heard , after all, life CAN be funny now that We are sober . Just remember please, NO NAMES ! O.K. , 1st one, I once heard someone say that "sometimes the Commity in My head gets Me so confused I dont know if I should commit Suicide or go make a Tunafish sandwitch ".
2nd one. The other night my first sponser said , " People respond not so much as to WHAT You say..but HOW you say it . If you said it in a nice way , you could tell someone to go to Hell , and they would run home and start packing for the trip...and REALLY look forward to going there ! "
I hope these made you laugh , they sure made me ! Plus , they really gave me something to think about.
Welcome back, Ron :) I don't think we've met much but I've seen you around here! I went off for the summer, busy with work, etc but back now. Well done with your 5months 1Day@aTime. We really do have some hearty laughs in meetings. There's a real sense of shared knowing & humour regarding our conditions sometimes. Not all doom & gloom though obviously important to share that too when we need ;) I'm trying to think what's tickled me lately as I know I've laughed but my brain's failing. Need to go to bed after a nightshift! Just popped by to say Hi. Have a happysober day, Danielle :)

too many funny things heard at AA.....i'm surprised they don't charge an entry fee to outsiders!
but seriously, i am one of the lucky ones who stuck around long enough to laugh. i came into AA in a million pieces, and, although i have a bit of recovery behind me now, moments when i clearly see how much i was beaten is a gift. there was a sign at one of my first regular meetings that read:
"god, thank you for allowing me to laugh, but never let me forget the tears i cried" (or something like that...)....this is the real essence of gratitude.
things have been rough the last month or so, and i have fantasised over cold bottles of my favourite beer, and doubts have entered my mind about whether or not i'd reach my 3rd AA birthday (in just over a month). but the fact that i haven't conceded to the booze is testimony to AA.
thank you to all who have listened to me speak utter bollocks over the last three years! i shall continue to do so!

Hello all.... I love the laughter in the rooms!!! Especially when new people attend! I always hear a comment or two regarding "people were laughing and I was amazed, etc.." Its also nice to know that when someone has a serious issue, people are willing to share their E. S & Hope....Have a great day!!Lani

My late sponsor was a pisser of an old lady. She was sober 33 years and saved a lot of young lives. Her opening line to us was: "I spilled more than you ever drank!!! She only passed away a month ago. I miss her teribly but God and her spirit are guiding me. I blessed to have had her in my life. Allison

There's a shirt from sickerstore.com that says "Young people do recover"... has a guy saying "Boy, I spilled more than you drank" and a kid replying "That's ok Pops, maybe you're just a slow learner"... I really want this shirt lol attaching the pic (they don't mind posting their images as long as they're linked to... http://www.sickerstore.com)
