Well, I got my phone hooked up on Monday.... got an AOL free trial disk, which apparently isn't free because they billed me for it lol so I gotta call and straighten that out now lol
But anyway, I'm back online.... but am going to start trying to practice a bit of self-discipline and try to not stay on the computer quite as much as I do..... making myself take a break from the chat room I go to now, as I've been letting it consume my life lately.... I'm a bit isolated here, online friends have been my lifesaver lately, but I'm realizing that it can go just a bit too far too.
It's a bit hard to get to meetings out here since they are a bit of a drive.... and I'm broke with hardly any money for gas.... but I'm going to try to get to a couple of meetings and see if I can find anyone that lives in this area that I can get rides with until I'm working and have some money... I really need to be getting to meetings, meeting people f2f that I can talk with and hang out with.... right now my only social life is on the internet and on the phone, which isn't very good.
Life is good though, I'm enjoying my new place, my dog and I are happy here :) I had a really cute single neighbor when I first moved in.... think I ran him off.... hahaha Nah, just kidding.... I behaved, I'm staying single for quite some time now lol but a few days after I moved in, he got a job offer 6 hours away from here and had to move. Hoping I get some decent neighbors there... I know the last ones that lived in this house were pretty bad, wrecked the place...
A friend of mine in Iowa is coming down Thanksgiving weekend, he called a couple of nights ago and asked if it'd be ok, so I'm sooooo excited about that! My best friend in Memphis came out here earlier this week, but it's nearly a 2 hour drive for her since she's on the north side of Memphis, so I don't expect her to come out often..... my old sponsor in Memphis is planning to come out here sometime soon too...
I did get to a meeting night before last, had to drive up to Selmer, TN, about an hour from here.... and oh man I'm really out in the country.... it wasn't just southern accents... it was *country* accents.... lol A guy actually said "git'r dun" in referring to the 4th step, and wasn't trying to be funny, he was just really redneck, I don't think anyone else in the room thought anything of it, but I had to try hard to keep a straight face lmao Met some nice people there though, seems to be a pretty good meeting, and I got a phone list, and a directory for west central TN which will cover the area close to me just across the state line, I'm only about 10 minutes from the state line.
Anyway... enough rambling from me.... y'all know me, can't keep anything short and simple lol
Hi Lisa, Sounds as if good things are abounding for you. Sobriety does that. The country....... nothing like it for those of us that can handle it. LOL Anyway......the best to you......it WILL come. Tiny steps....one day at a time, huh? Wanda
