I am a new member. I am trying to attend AA meetings but do not have the time or means to do it. I am hoping that I can gain the same kind of support and encouragement here. I don't know what to do so I will need a lot of help. Thank you to anyone willing to do so.

Hi Christa,

Welcome to MIP.

Here are a couple of links that you might find helpful. But, I would suggest trying to get to as many meetings as possible. For me, it's the only way that I can stay sober.

Please keep posting and letting us know how things go for you, won't you?

Take care,

Carol

I do not have a vehicle and I work two jobs. It is hard to find a meeting and a ride that fit my hectic schedules.

Have you tried asking for help with rides? A couple ways of doing that, announcing it at a meeting and calling the local AA intergroup in your phone book. It's important to indentify yourself as a newcomer in the beginning of the meetings when they ask. usually several people will come up to you after the meeting and they may be able to help you with a ride to a meeting. One of the cornerstones of AA and symbols on the triangle is "Service". You would be giving someone the opportunity to do service work, by providing you with transportation to a meetings. A lot long term friendships in the program start that way.

In the late 80's I took a job in Guam. I didn't know my way around and didn't know where the meetings were. I called AA intergroup and someone answered. later that evening I had a ride to a meeting. I told that person that I was very surprised, and he said "this may be a small remote island, but AA works here too!"

I've have also gotten rides to meetings in Hawaii, Costa Rica, Antigua, and too many states to name. Believe me, all you have to do is ask. There is a hidden bonus that you will receive called humility

Welcome aboard.
Please get to at least one meeting a week.
