I was talking in a thread below about how much I craved sweets and was losing weight. Well, the weight loss has evened out, although I need to lose more actually to be healthy. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at age 30, and I am really not a big girl. But I also have PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome), so my hormones have always been out of check. My RN thinks I am not yet actually diabetic, but pre-diabetic because I have never had an abnormal A1 count.
Anyway, I still want to be wary with sugar. So this is what I have been doing the last couple of days....
First of all, I am a sweet cereal junkie. I found "Special K "protein plus" It has 10 grams of protein per serving, and my dietician and Dr. always said you should eat both at the same time. Then it also has fewer carns, and more fiber. I put splenda on it, and cut up half a banana to put in (y'all know we needed that potassium anyway!!!!)
It is REALLY good. And healthy. I still eat a couple of small squares of almond Hershey bar at night, and my boiled eggs sans some of the egg yolk.
I just wanted to tell you about the cereal. It is a GREAT alternative to what I was eating!!! And just as good. I love splenda!
Today is day 25 for me....went to an AA karaoke (can't spell) last night....sang karaoke "I will survive". First time I have ever done THAT sober!!!!
Keep it up MicKen! You are off to a good start. The cravings for sweets does lessen but it's good you're finding a reasonable diet for your condition. That will indeed help you. Good fortune...Tim

25 days is a super achievement. Well done. Keep going one day at a time. And, all praise to you for taking such care about your diet. You are a super example to me.
Take care,
Carol
