First, let me say to ya like we say down here in South La. "Hey y'all !" Hope everyones doing good. If not, dont drink anyway! Things are going good here. working on week 6. (Mike's on week 2). Both of us are really trying. I found out he has a little problem with reading, so, him living next door, I figure it will do us both good for me to read the Big Book to him and talk about it. Im trying to get the Big Book on cd for him. I have lot's of old speaker tapes for him to here. Chuck C., Johnny Harris...(Hey, he goes by his whole name) and many more. He really means it when he say's he's doing it for himself, but yesterday his wife told me how proud she was of him and how glad she was that I was helping him. I told her I was glad I was helping him too because thats what  helps keep me sober. There's a bunch of us who go on a cruise together every year. I was telling Mike and his wife to put away some of the money he was spending on booze , and next year they can go too. Heck, with that kind of $$$ saved, they can get a penthouse suite LOL !! They couldnt belive that every ship has a AA meeting. They went on one about 3 Mos ago and he said just his bar tab was over $500.00. Those pretty little drinks with the umbrella add up FAST...(and in more way's than one). I remember going to Mexico one time and the ship was ready to leave. They had this drunk lady that WOULD NOT get on the ship. Kept say in a slure "Im staying right here. " They finally got her on. (must have told her the bar had just opened for free drinks LOL). Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi, and ask if anyone lived down here in the Swamp? Or maybe Mississippi ? It would be cool to hook up with some of you. You will never be able to know how much this site means to me, or should I say the people on here. Just think, a little over a Mo. ago, I was ready to pull the triger and put a stop to it all. God sent me to this site, and Y'all helped me pick up the pieces and get back to trudging the road.ALL of you mean so much to me. Have a Great week, and may God shine his spirit on all of you and your love ones.

You are truly to be admired and what an inspiration you are! Glad you and Mike have each other. Your reading the BB to him is truly a genorous act of charity. .......Charity is you know ANY act of kindness or love.......it is not strictly giving money, shelter or clothing.
It is awesome you have done so well....both of you. Congrats on all you have accomplished
and may you continue to succeed. Wanda (PS Sorry I'm what you southern boys would
call a "yankee" LOL ...... from Illinois. Been through Ms. and that's as close as I got to LA.)

Congrats on 6 weeks of sobriety and on settling in down her in the ole south... not too hot or humid for you (yet)? I am not exactly a neighbor, bring in GA, but understand the swamp way a bit, as we have vacationed at the Okefenokee before... I am a mtn foothills gal myself.

You really should celebrate (sans alcohol) the 6 weeks! I was just starting to feel like maybe I could go another day without alcohol by then, the initial withdrawal was wearing off... Its also way cool that your HP put a fellow drunk in line with you because, as the Big Book says "this is how it works".

Thx for sharing - this is a nice way to start MY day (see it working?) (:
