Just checkin in...

Hey y'all, just checkin in... haven't posted here in awhile...   pretty hot here today, but the house is staying cool enough at least... and it's not so bad in the shade outside...

Been busy doing major clean up around here all week... I've been working on the house mostly and a bit here and there outside... and bf and our friend have been doing clean up outside... And on top of that... been busy checking on tons of babies! lol

My little chicks, guineas, and turkeys are growing up and running around outside... and now we've got lots of chicks hatching... I think somewhere around 14 so far...  can't keep up with them all!  lol

And then our cat went into labor yesterday... had one cat yesterday, and 4 today, and I think she might still have one or two in her... and they're *big* babies with lots of hair! This is her first litter... Think she might have been overdue, had a hard time with her first 2 kittens... needed a bit of help from us.

Thought she was done after 4 kittens, she ate a little, and I left her alone, then we checked on her later and there was another kitten! So far, there's 2 ginger tabbies (one male, one female), 1 yellow (male), 1 grey (female), and one grey and red tabby (female) who I think I'm keeping and have started calling her Patches :)

Talked to our neighbor a little while ago, he's gonna take most the sheep in the next few days and leave us the 2 ewes with their babies and the ewe that will lamb soon, he knows I love watching those babies  :)   They've gotten most the weeds down now, there's no sense in keeping 20 sheep here now  lol

Things have been going much better lately...  bf has gotten off his dry drunk, and we're doing a lot better...  he's being a bit more appreciative of what I do around here, whereas while he was on that dry drunk, he even complained some that I wasn't doing enough around here, when really he was just so caught up in his crap that he didn't notice what I DO do around here...  But all week we've been working our butts off...  And he had to go back to our friend's farm today to help with some stuff, I was gonna go and our friend was gonna pay me to be their go-fer, but since they were getting such a late start she said she didn't need me and so I decided to stay home and take care of things here and keep an eye on the babies...

Well, need to go do some work in the garden and get some sprinklers hooked up... and check on our friend that's working out here...

Hope everyone is having a great clean/sober day!!

Love and hugs to all...

Lisa

Lisa,
You go girl! (Am a bit envious over the farm life thing. (smile)) You certainly have come
a long way. The tone of your posts seem so joyful. May God/HP continue to bless you!
Wanda

PS. Phil, If you read this......I think she's got it! You start with one bird (or a few) at a time.
LOL

Hey Lisa! I thought I was going to have to drive to Nebraska and roam through corn fields knocking on doors! glad things are going so well for you. Sounds like you're staying good and busy out in that hot NE sun! Also good to hear you all got thru that rough spot. And kittens? Wow, that's twice kittens have come up on the board. How neat. I know I won't have to ask twice--wanna post a picture of 'em? Give me a good excuse to drive to nebraska, right? (joke--can't afford the gas anymore.) Keep posting, my imagination works overtime when I haven't heard about farm animals in too many days.  big hug, Chris

Hahaha...  well, no, I'm about as bad as Phil, he started with 100 chickens, right?  Well...  I started with a little over 30 total (chicks, guineas, and turkeys), not knowing how many chicks we'd wind up having from our hens, since I'd never been on a farm before...  and we already had somewhere around 15 chickens, and had 5 in our first hatch this year....  we're really thinking we'll wind up with about 100 before the hatching is all done with  lol  And...  yes, crazy me was really tempted to go get more guineas...  and would have if I had the money for it!  lol

lol Chris, you're welcome to drive out here...  maybe I'll stop posting for awhile just so ya will! But maybe I'll email you my address first so ya won't have to go around knocking on doors  lmao  biggrin   Yes, I will definitely post pics soon, but...  we left the camera at our friend's house a few days ago...  and I'm going crazy wanting to take pics and show off the kittens!!!  lol  Bf is over there, and should be home sometime tomorrow, so I'll get pics then  smile

Hi Lisa,

Glad to hear that things are going well for you. And, farm life sounds wonderful. Your kittens sound adorable, too. I'd love to see some pics of them if you take any.

Take care,

Carol
