Hello Jillian. I hope you're reading, and that perhaps at some point you'll feel safe enough to share with us. Any time you're ready. Be blessed, Chris

Thank you for welcoming me....this is so hard.  I have let so many family and friends down.  However, I am now  going to face myself and fight what I have let sneak upon myself without fully recoginizing it.  I do not want these past couple of years define my life.

Jillian that is great... at least you know what you have to do! I felt the same way... i hurt alot of people, but you need to realize that was in the past and it was not you hurting them intentionally... all you can do it prevent it in the future :)

Hi again Jillian, I know you're beating yourself up right now. Guilt is a killer. But remember this, also; alcoholism is a recognized disease. You didn't sit there as a young person and blow out birthday candles, wishing that "when I grow up, I want to be an alcoholic". It isn't a choice to become one, but it is a choice to do something about it, which you are doing now. So give yourself some kudos here, be kind to yourself. You're taking action, and nobody can ask for anything more. And do remember--while you're facing yourself and fighting the fight, you aren't doing it alone. There are many of us, here in the forum and out there in the Fellowship who will walk with you on this path the whole way. That's one of the biggest ways the rest of us stay sober, is by helping the newcomer. Don't ever feel alone. We've all been there, all of us. And don't even think about letting this disease define you. It doesn't. Do this for yourself. warmly, Chris

Welcome to MIP, Jillian! A great place to be. I'm sober 8months 1Day@aTime & it's this Fellowship that has helped me through. Admittedly I couldn't do it on my own so ThankGod I don't have to :) People here will help you & answer your questions. It's quite a journey you can look forward to. It's a good route & you never have to make any of the mistakes you've made again. You're on a learning curve & the only way is up. A.A. has so much to offer in everything & especially as for a solution to our drinking. Takes some getting used to though with honesty, open~minded & willingness we get there step by step. Thanks for joining us, Jillian. Our hearts are with you & we'll help anyway we can for the asking ;) Yours, in recovery, Danielle x
