Your circumstances were getting kind of lost in the shuffle below so I thought to bring it topside so we can stay posted on your well being.  Do hope all is going well and yeah, staying busy will keep bad thoughts away for the most part.  The rest you have to "just say no" to.  That Gatorade you've been drinking is good to replace electrolytes you've lost and water just to clean out.  Another help is a daily dose of "B" complex vitamins and a good multi along with some healthy eating.  One other thing that I was told before by a psyche assistant:  Milk thistle capsules.  Now these are homeopathic and some will mabe disagree but my results follow.  My doctor told me after sobering up after a nasty bender that my liver enzymes were way out (after a blood panel).  I asked him how long it would be before my liver returned to normal function.  He said 3 to 6 months.  I started the milk thistle and one month later my liver panel came back normal .  That's my experience and is definitely not a scientific study.  Whatever you do, take good care of yourself and keep us posted.  Good fortune...Tim

Hi Ron,

I hope that all is going well for you. I found that keeping busy in the early days of my sobriety really helped me. I took up walking and it was so good for me. It gave me some peace and quiet to focus on what I wanted/needed from the day and to connect with my Higher Power.

Also, I took Milk Thistle, too. I found that my liver test results came back much better than I had hoped for after using the capsules for only one month. But, I know that there haven't been enough studies done to really say how helpful or otherwise it actually is.

Please keep posting and letting us know how things are going for you, won't you?

Take care,

Carol

Hello everyone. Thanks for be so kind and bump me up. That was very thoughtful of you. Well, if I can go today with out picking up, I will have 4 day's ! Ive been going to meetings everyday and calling my old sponser everday. Most importand is that Ive been asking God in the AM please and PM before going to bed Thank you.Something happened yesterday That I have to share with you. As I said before, Ive been working my butt off to help keep my crazy mind from straying into dark outerspace. I live in Louisiana, and yes..Katrina was kind enough to visit me. Anyway, Im Outside busting my butt trying to do some things before it rains . The clouds were black, my Rat Terrier was going nucking futs so I Know a storm is near. I was soaking wet from sweat, my mouth was dry as cotton. I was cutting some plywood with my power saw. After cutting it , I happened to look up and my Buddy that lives next door was standing there. I looked and he had 2 Ice cold Bud longnecks in his hands. He said " Ron, you look like you could use one of these. In a split second...without ANY thought , I said, No thanks. You should have seen the look on his faceweirdface. I bet he would tell you the same about mine, because I thought...did I just say what I thought I saideyepopping.gif ??!! He left and went home. I stood there for a few min. and couldnt belive I said no so fast. I was In a tranzs. Then it hit me , No Ron..You did not say that, God did . Just the sound came from your mouth. God was just doing what you asked him to do..helping you to not not pick up for one day. I went inside my house ,cooled off, made some coffee and called my sponser to tell him what happened.Went back outside to pick up all my tools. Took a shower, took a nap, and then haualed my skinny butt to a meeting . Got home, told the Boss thank you and went to sleep...sober. I guess it's true, God look's out for old fool's like me ...When I ask him to. Gotta go get busy. Im trying to rebuild my house...and my life . Luv all you folks. Ron

How wonderful Ron and empowering, saying no and in my experience it just gets easier, i felt so empowered when i realised i could say no that i said no to just about everything for a wee while, i had never realised i had that choice before.

A favourite of mine is 'I will do today, what would appaul me if i thought i had to do it forever' smile

Milk thistle has been mentioned and here is my experience......when i came into recovery my liver was in poor shape and i was also suffering with hepatitis C a few months into recovery i had to have some teeth pulled but the dentist wouldn't pull them without a liver function test, so i had one, and my liver function was normal and there was no trace of the hepC  in my blood stream confused
I had been taking milk thistle.aww

That is a great story Ron, and I'm glad you made it back. I am proud of you for your honesty and for sharing your story here. You will be in my daily prayers. Hang in there bud, and keep us posted.

I am fairly new here, and don't post very often, but I get so much from reading the posts.

Thanks to Tim for starting this thread, and thanks to you ALL for being here.

Daryl

Hi Ron,
From Illinois......
Such a minor thing yet such a BIG step. It seems always amazing that when we need
strength and courage to do what is right, it will be given. All we have to do is ask.
Your share is hope that one can do it.
Do hope you keep us updated. Wishing you many more blessings and success on your recovery journey. Wanda

Hi Everyone. Well, today is day 5. God is SOOOOOOO Cool worship.gif !!! I dont know what he see's in me, but for some reason he has givin me more chances than I deserve. There are thousands of Alcoholics out there such as Dr.'s, Police, Firemen and on and on who are out there saving peoples lives while themselves are dieing from Alcohol. Yet he keep's giving old fools like myself chance after chance. I once heard in a meeting when I first sobered up 13 yrs ago, "what you are is God's gift to you, what You become is Your gift to God". I just hope somehow..someway I can give back. As for all of You who have been sticking by me, You will never know what it has ment to me. The idea that people who have never seen my face, much less know me care about my safety and pulling for me. YOU are True friends.
Ron
