I say "sorta" because it's an online sponsor...  I'm on a women's AA email list, and someone sent to it a list of temporary online sponsors...  one of the women on the list was someone who had recently posted her "open talk" she had just done at a meeting, said a lot in there about how she works the steps and all...  so I emailed her, asked her about online sponsorship...  my bf has an online sponsor, but it's more just someone he goes to for advice and talks to, they don't do stepwork. 

She told me she does work the steps with people online, that she uses http://www.sober.org with her sponsees, it's more or less a workbook type thing, tells you what to read from the BB, then you read their explanations and comments on it, and it gives you writing assignments or questions to answer on each step.  I looked through it and like it, my sponsor back home had me do writing on each step, and I liked doing that...  I know some people who just read through the steps in the BB with their sponsor and that's it...  but I like writing because I feel like I'm doing the step more thoroughly as it makes me think about what the step is and what I need to be doing. 

I talked to my new online sponsor some today, and we also exchanged phone numbers and she said I can call any time.   We have some things in common, and she's closer to my age than the last 2 sponsors I've tried, she's almost 30, with 2 1/2 years sober.

I think I still need to find a f2f sponsor, or at least find some women here that I can get close to...  As my sponsor back home had told me, I should have a sponsor here because it's too easy to BS someone you don't see face to face on a regular basis...  So I figured I need a sponsor here in town as well, or at least some women I feel close enough to, to confide in, ask for help when I need it, etc...  but that will come in time, as I get to more meetings and get to know people here.
