Takes a number of days before these up and down mood swings settle down..

Normal stuff...

Hang in bud...

Bryan don't read too much into it... they go away ( for the most part)... I still have some b@$#h in me though-that stayed haha My body is still trying to figure out sober life! Different cravings every day... very strange... now I know how a pregnant woman feels!

No you're not crazy, your transitioning.  I don't know if this is true for you, but I used alcohol to self-medicate my feelings.  When the alcohol was gone, I still had the feelings.  I've been sober for about 8 years and it's only been the last 2 that I've worked a program (outside of AA),  as of right now I'm digging a little deeper in my recovery, (including AA).  You're not just becoming sober, you're healing.  When you take something away, it needs to be replaced with a healthier alternative.   These are my thoughts and opinions, take what you like, and take care.  smile

Bryan, I was a basketcase when first getting sober...  major mood swings...  my sponsor explained it as, when I was drinking, I was numbing my feelings, and now that I'm sober I have to learn how to feel all over again.  A number of days Phil?!  haha...  for me, it was at least a couple of months til it really settled down...  and didn't totally get better until I got off my psychiatric meds that I realized were screwin me up worse, well, not totally better, we all have mood swings, but ya know what I mean...  Bryan, it gets better, it gets easier, just hang in there and take it one day at a time!  *hugs*

Yup... Perfectly normal. And Ive been taught, that on those "down mood swings" is when you wanna dive into the program. I find it helps (yes, after two years, I still have those crappy days too) if I call another alcoholic just to say hey, or see if they need anything. Seems to always make things better if I can get my mind off myself. Hang in.

Hi Bryan,

Yes, I suffered from mood swings, too. But, they started to go fairly quickly. I had 'numbed' out my emotions with the amount of alcohol I was drinking and it took me a little while to get back to normal again. Just hang in there and it really will get better.

Please keep posting and let us know how it goes for you, won't you?

Take care,

Carol

Brian, the mood swings are normal. I remember my neck and shoulders hurt for a while. On the positive side, my tendency to get leg cramps, (charlie horses), went away. However, interactions with  others can be a bit tedious right now. Especially old drinking buddies. Try to steer clear of them. Just delve deep into the AA program and go to as many meetings as you can. Talk to other recovering alcoholics as much as possible and stay wrapped in the program. AA saved my life, and it can save you too. You can do it.
You deserve sobriety brother.
