I just read Jeanie's post and found in it useful reflection. It reminded me of a favorite Mohandas Gandhi quote, 'though now that I've reread it, I see that it is different, but that's OK. Maybe someone else will find inspiration and reflection in it as well.
"Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the bginning." -- from The Words of Gandhi
Thanks for a super quote. I have printed it out and it is one that I will go back to a lot. You have given me a lot to think about this morning.
When I was drinking, I was convinced that I would never be able to stop. So, it became self-fulfilling and I continued to drink.
Now, because of AA I don't need to drink, but life still throws problems up and I sometimes feel that I can't handle this problem or that problem. When that next happens, I'll think of this quote and believe that I can do it. Who knows what may happen!
Have a great day.
Carol
