I spent an hour with a cardiologist yesterday and had a few tests. I have been told that I may have alcoholic cardiomyopathy. I have a fair few symptoms and I'm going to have a scan of my heart and a 24 hour heart monitor fitted soon.
It just shows that alcohol affects more than the liver, which I knew, but I thought I had 'got away with it'.
I was wondering if anybody else has this and has any advice or tips for me.
Carol

Wow! I have never heard of that before. I had my first (and only) heart attack Oct. 3, '03. It was a mild one and I know I was sober at the time as I was making a toy box for a neighbor's son and was having trouble squeezing a clamp with my left hand. Pain came and kept increasing during the day. Finally checked into a hospital that night and had a balloon angioplasty three days later. I don't doubt it was my past drinking that led me to it. Take care of yourself Carol!!! I hope all goes well. Love in recovery...Tim
