hi guys, I'm at my wits end. For the last month I've had complete insomnia. Sometimes I can't get to sleep, even after working 12/hr shift. Other times like now I sleep for an hour off and on. I def drank most nights so sleep was not a problem, when I didn't I took sleeping pills. Can't due either now d/t pregnancy. I don't know how much more I can take. Doc says she can prescribe ambien. I'm afraid to take it. At this point I've done yoga, I work out, I drink sleepy time tea, no naps, hot showers etc. I dont know if the is part of sobriety or if its preg or both. My anxiety levels are at an all time high. I'm sick all the time, exhausted and working full time. I'm getting pissed. I'm suffering so much right now, it's really hard to be excited about this baby. Where is my higher power now? Cause I sure as hell cant feel it.
whoa, that is not a good place, i so feel for you....i know the changes in my body when i was pregnant threw every dam thing out of wack...all kinds of stuff i didnt expect! mid trimester is the best. then when he was finally born......big big big happy!
I've never been pregnant, so I can't offer any help. But, when I first stopped drinking I couldn't sleep properly. I was permanently exhausted. I tried lots of different ways, such as you have described, but with no luck for a few weeks. Then, my sleep pattern suddenly came right again.
Please hang in there. It really will get better. The goodness that you are doing for yourself and for your baby is amazing.
Please keep coming back and letting us know how it goes for you, won't you?
Take care, Carol

Have you ever done yoga? They teach you deep breathing exercises that I swear put so much oxygen into you that it makes you drowsy and able to fall asleep. The trick is to take a very deep breath, so that it sort of inflates your belly, hold it, then let it out slowly through your mouth. Do it several times until you feel more relaxed. It's helped me!
I feel your pain - you are in my prayers. It's been a while since i've been pg - but i've learned yoga since then.
Maybe you've heard of hamstring stretches? I've been told by an old master that the "yogi's" in ancient times used to prescribe hamstring stretches for insomnia - it's true.
Thanks Cam for your prayers, I can use them right now. I actually had been sleeping oK lately , but the last 2 nights have been bad. The dog woke me up. He had surgery a week ago, and he's supposed to be taking it easy...but the last 2 nights it's been jumping off and on the bed..woke me up...kept me up. Not even my deep breathing helped. Real fearful about leaving my H, and him maybe trying to take the dog as he knows that he's like my child. Felt awful this morning, really down. A little better this afternoon. My Dr gave me some very mild sleep meds, but I try not to use them a whole lot.
