Those Who Laugh --- Last (Preview) August 27, 2012 Quote of the Week "Those who laugh - last" I remember hearing the phrase, "We are not a glum lot" when I was new in recovery - I didn't believe it. I mean, here I was sentenced to attending meetings, prohibited from partying, and forced to believe in God. Things...	Pythonpappy	4	772	Aug 28, 2012 by justadrunk
Pulling up weeds (Preview) May 15, 2010 I have found through the years being a sober person one of the most relaxing therapeutic things to do is pull weeds. I know sounds insane but it saves on therapy bill. One day i realized for years i had been walking matilda(my velcro dog) pulling up weeds trying to put my mind at ease. Even th...	sarge	13	1452	Aug 28, 2012 by abbottmorris
Hurricanes, elections, and olympics. (Preview) It would seem I've been sober for a long time (coming up on 4 years right?). So I live in Ft. Lauderdale. Currently we have a tropical storm going to the west of us and are feeling severe rain bands and some wind. Nothing that bad. Nonetheless, we have not been hit by a hurricane or even a bad storm since...	pinkchip	10	776	Aug 28, 2012 by Col
Pray for those who still suffer (Preview) There is a 'gentleman' I work with who has caused me a lot of grief. He is 'in and out' of AA..he preaches to all of his coworkers about drinking and AA to the point where it's a bit obnoxious- then he shows up to work drunk. This has happened several times. He has sexually harrassed me, spread rumors about m...	Col	8	1175	Aug 28, 2012 by justadrunk

Revelation (Preview) So, I've had somewhat of a 'revelation'.. Not a huge revelation like when I realized I'm not angry with God anymore, more of a 'huh' type of thing. So as many of you may have read here lately, I've been struggling with anger and a lot of self pity, general confusion about things. So I'm thinking, thinking...	Col	8	459	Aug 27, 2012 by Rob84
"and to another human being" (Preview) This is perhaps difficult, especially discussing our defects with another person. We think we have done well enough in admitting these things to ourselves. There is doubt about that. In actual practice, we usually find a solitary self-appraisal insufficient. I read this. Tommorrow I do my 5th...	Neophyte	17	835	Aug 27, 2012 by Pythonpappy

Taking control of emotions (Preview) Hey all.. So here I am, working on 4th step, still on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. My emotional maturity is embarrassing at times.
