Arthritis and alcohol consumption

I am addicted to alcohol. I have severe joint pain and swelling in the joints. I consulted my family doctor and I am diagnosed with rheumatic arthritis. He prescribed me some medicines. But is there any permanent cure for rheumatic arthritis? He also recommended a physiotherapy procedure in Toronto. But is physiotherapy a better solution for arthritis? I came across a blog which explains about this in detail.

Anyone here had undergone this procedure? Is this procedure effective? My doctor advised me to abstain from alcohol while taking DMARDs. Can anyone here suggest a way to get rid of this habit?

Yeah Batouth, ... 1st, you have to be tired enough of the problems alcohol causes to WANT to quit ... THEN you need to take ACTION, like go'n to AA meet'ns to learn what others, like yourself, did to stop drink'n ... then follow their lead ... You will find we are a good lot ... willing to share what works and what don't ... go to a meet'n and let us know how it go's ...

And it's very likely you'll find someone there whose been through what you're go'n through with the arthritis issues ... (check for local AA meetings in your area on the internet)
