No need for me to take the test ... I are one .... one that has not found it necessary to take a drink for years ...

The funny thing about these tests , if you take them dishonestly which many alcoholics do; because 99% of addicts are fantastic liars, the test has no use. The true test is the mirror test, look in the mirror and ask yourself am I an alcoholic, then go out and try to have 2 beers like social drinkers do, and after the two beers or drinks go home, and see if you are at peace with yourself and family. If you are at peace with no agitation, maybe your not. But I bet most people asking themselves to his question do not stop at 2 drinks.

Good point Bunch, ... ... ... I'm the guy, after the party's over, go'n around drink'n what's left in the glasses everone left behind while clean'n up ... some reason, I couldn't bring myself to pour them down the drain ... that'd been a waste of good beer and wine ... can't believe I really did that sh!t ... ... ...

I'm soooo grateful that I'll wake up in the morn'n and remember what I did today ...

That's right Pappy , I did the same thing we nick named the half beers which people left behind midbo's and we ( me and my other alcoholic friends would collect them and put them in cooler to get cold or sometimes drink them right away, but exp taught me to shake the can , after drinking one which had a cigarette put out in it.At the time period this was going on was early in my alcoholic life, but I look at kids now , who are doing similar things and I can tell the ones who are going to have a problem in life.

Oh Lord Bunch, ... you just made me recall the time I used to buy re-bottled Pabst Blue Ribbon beer (in the returnable case) ... ... ... (about 40 years ago) ... I opened one bottle and co-minced to drink it and wondered why the beer wasn't flowing out very easily ... (since I tended to gulp) ... there was a 1/2 cigarette in the stupid thing ... yeah, from the factory ... needless to say, I never bought Pabst ever again ... LOL ...

Thanks a lot, now I'll go all day with those 'flashbacks' ...

99%? I though that number would be higher

When I first came into AA, a good friend there told me one of the best tests is just this: Are you in a meeting of AA? If so then odds are you're an alcoholic. Normal people don't usually find themselves in AA.

Over the years that has turned out to be largely true. Of the thousands of people I've met I can't think of but one or two that didn't strike me as an alcoholic.

Palo , I hope the flashbacks did not ruin your dinner, I can still taste that midbo I drank many years ago when I recall it.Now it's tea and water, thank God and I feel great. Just watched Big Papi play his last game in Fenway Park, and if I was drinking I would not of been able to remember it. When they show the home runs he hit I remember them but I was in a drunken twister, today I enjoyed the ceremony sober. It is Awesome, me and my kids watching it together. It's only been a little over 3 months for me , but the I feel like I am in a time warp. Do you know what I mean. Like before Sobriety and After Sobriety , it's weird .Thanks for all the advise Papi, I picked up the Shack today, going to start it tomorrow.

Good for you Bunch, ... It just keeps get'n better ... it can take a while to truly understand exactly what we were missing when we drank all the time ... so much life 'happens', and when we drank, much of it simply passed us by .... NOW, we can be a part of it ... we can learn the meaning of the word 'love' and learn to allow it to be the very life blood in our veins ...

'The Shack', oh man, I'm go'n to have to pull my copy out and re-read it ... Feel free to PM me if you'd like to discuss what you've read ... (but that will most likely be the 2nd half of the book ... ) ... Note, if you're an emotional type, better have some tissues handy ... there are some very intense moments to deal with ...

Pappy
