I'm scared I'm going to fail at this and let everyone down.

We all do this one day at a time, so if you can stay sober today, you're already doing it successfully.

Welcome! And if there's anything we can do to help, just ask.

So how are things going? Have you been to some AA meetings? Got any questions about staying sober?

Welcome to MIP Peppergirl, ...

You don't need to get sober for 'everyone' else ... you need to get and stay sober for you ... ... ...

We are a group of drunks here that have not found it necessary to pick up a drink for some time now ... we have the experience, strength, and knowledge to help you achieve 'long term' sobriety ... but it's you that must decide if your ready to take some steps to make that happen ... let us know a little more about you and where you stand as far as your knowledge of AA ... been to a meeting yet??? ... Do you have an AA(Alcoholics Anonymous) big book yet??? ... are you suffering withdrawals yet??? ... trouble sleeping??? ... etc. ... ... ...

Let us hear from you often so we can lead you in the right direction ...

Love you and God Bless,
Pappy

Welcome peppergirl....
Good to have you here with us. This is a great board. You will find lots of support. Like has been said, don't worry about others ....right now do this for yourself. Go to a meeting, get a when and where book, get a few names and numbers from other women. You can do it!

(Not sure if you know it or not, but your whole name shows up in your post......may not matter to you, however, if you want to remain anonymous to others--(work, family, friends, etc) you may want to edit your post and delete it. I don't even use my name in my profile info.)

Welcome Peppergirl!  I'm new here, too, with 9 days under my hat.  I completely understand what you're feeling.  Truth is, I'm afraid of the same thing even though at the end of the day I know I have to do this for myself and my future.  One day at a time, even five minutes at a time, is what you need to focus on.  Sometimes in meetings I see people with months or even years talking and I think "Oh, I want that to be me!".  But those thoughts overwhelm me.  A YEAR without alcohol?  Oh my god.  But a day?  An hour?  Hell, 30 seconds?  That seems like it can be manageable.

I wish I had some words of wisdom to impart but, as I said, I'm new on this journey as well.

Everyone here has been SO helpful to me so I hope you'll come back to enjoy the same kind of support. :)  Hugs and good thoughts, friend.

As far as the "words of wisdom" GG, you had plenty to give to peppergirl. Great for you! This is the first time since I have been on this board that we have had three newcomers--so close together in sobriety time posting. You three should get to know one another. You can Private Message one another, call, and give each other support. It is so good to have other newcomers to talk to and be there for one another.

You all have made my day, no--my week!!!!

Welcome peppergirl, i am on my nineth day today, i have had so much support and love from the people on here, and i am also scared, but im taking it hour by hour...you can do it. Keep going to meetings, no matter how tired or crap you feel, you will always come away from a meeting feeling better than when you walked in(thats my experience anyway), read read and read the big book, and give yourself a pat on the back for every minute, hour and day you do...hugs n kisses xxx
