I haven't been on the board for quite some time, but decided to come on and check in.  I've been going through a grieving process since late November when my sponsor passed away unexpectedly.  I've certainly been here before, since I have had three sponsors in the 29 years I've been in A.A., and each of them has passed away.  I understand that we all have to leave this earth at some time, but it still does really suck.  Anyhoo, I'm just staying connected to my sisters and brothers in the fellowship, and praying for the willingness to be open to getting another sponsor.  Taking my life and sobriety one day at a time and meditating on all of the pearls of wisdom my sponsor imparted to me.

Hi BGG, ...

Very sorry to hear that your sponsor passed away ... in my mind, that would be akin to a spouse or a mother or father passing away ... very emotionally draining at the very least ...

You will be in my prayers ... and it sounds to me that you are taking the right steps to maintain your 'conscious contact' with God, who heals all wounds ... Be strong and show others an example of what happens as a result ...

Love ya and God Bless,
Pappy

Hello BGG, I'm sorry for your sadness ((((hug)))) That's a difficult situation to cope with. I agree, staying connected is the best thing to do. A sponsor is a special mentor in your life, not to be "replaced". Follow your heart and when the time is right, may the empty spot you're feeling now be filled with a new light. Way to go with 29 years! And you did it One Day at a Time! Best wishes, Coogi
