Your best bet is to go to AA's website at AA dot org. You will find links to contact Alcoholics Anonymous in your area. Give them a call and get to a meeting.

Welcome to MIP MeeMee, ...

Yes, the absolute best way to work the steps is to find a local meeting and after a few meetings, ask someone you like, female preferably, in your case, to be your sponsor ... having someone to guide you through the steps is the best way to accomplish them ...

Of course there are many of us here that will be happy to help you as well, but 'face-to-face' is the best and most successful way to go ... don't get embarrassed, we've all been through the same process ... at first most of us didn't want to do it, but when the pain of drinking outweighed the pleasure, we knew we must change ... I know I'm glad I did ... good luck and ask us anything you wish about getting and staying sober ... it's why we're here ...

Love ya and God Bless,
Pappy

AA is listed in most local telephone directories as well. Give them a call.

All the best.

It's very important to understand the steps.

Get this book:

Bill W., author of the steps in the Alcoholics Anonymous and founder of AA wrote the pictured book "to broaden and deepen the understanding of the Twelve Steps as first written in the earlier work."

Good luck MM5. Feel free to let us know how it goes.

Alright JE!! ready to do the steps!!  What I did was what was suggested by the fellowship that came before me.  It is suggested here with find a sponsor (who has what you want in recovery and then ask if they will sponsor you.  If they will not...it happens...repeat the "finding" portion again and ask again until you have an experienced fellow of AA...suggest female...and start at step one...Admitted we were powerless...  We are about progress and not perfection so put away any fears and get to the meeting.   Keep coming back to MIP and  join us here also and let us know how you are doing.   ((((hugs)))) smile
