I read an article that said he was fine tuning his sobriety, I wonder if Alcohol had a part of his depression.

Yes, ... RIP Robin ... ... ... shows we never outgrow the need for the program ...

I remember an excellent skit he did one time on alcohol and drugs, very funny, very true ... he was definitely one of us ... he will be missed :(

Yes it is sad to end that way.
I believe he was also bipolar.

Gotta see if I can find a copy of "Good Morning Viet Nam", ... ... ... ... he was soooo funny in that one ... and I think, if I'm not mistaken, he 'ad lib'ed' much of it!!! ... ... ... actually, I think he 'ad Lib'ed' in most if not all the movies he did ... ... ... and his 'nanu, nanu' on 'Mork and Mindy' was hilarious ... ... ... I miss him already ...

Very tragic and sad!  I loved Robin because he was one of us and he was very good at what he did.  Am I the only one reading the news and wondering if somethings missing?  I read the post in the USA Today and on NBC news and they talk of a mood disorder, depression and maybe bi-polar.  Maybe he had a dual diagnosis, but no one mentions un-treated Alcoholism?  I guess it's still such an unknown in the medical community.  One article even stated he was sober 20 years and was feeling depressed and thought drinking alcohol may alleviate that.  confuse  Isn't that one of many reasons why we all drank?  Just sharing my initial impression here after reading the stories.

Agree Mike. He said he had a small voice always there... always... whispering to him about a drink. 20 yrs to not listen? Wow... amazing.

Relapse 06-08 then finally appears to embrace 12 step program. Relief for a while... peace and god shining in.... then creeps in too much work.. workaholism rears its head and he has a relapse with that symptom.... no program for 18 months... tries to regain his spiritual side a few weeks ago at hazelden retreat... barely hanging onto alcohol sobriety but spiritual malady back and its too late.

*My personal interpretation from what I read so far. Xox

I just read this article written by Russell Brand, who is also in recovery:

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/aug/12/russell-brand-robin-williams-divine-madness-broken-world

It's poignant and sad, but also really well written and addresses some great points.
