Celebrating the Holidays With Blessings Instead of Booze

This time last year I am sure I had already finished several beers or several glasses of wine.  I was crazy drinking. Holidays were just an excuse for me to drink more and if I had any guilt at all about drinking earlier in the day or more during the day, that quickly disappeared as fast as the liquid in my containers because I would justify it because "Well, it is Easter."..(or Christmas, or St. Fool's Day, etc....).

Now I am grateful that as a recovering alcoholic, I have celebrated the holidays like I will celebrate this holiday by counting my blessings instead of counting my empty bottles.

I hope everyone has a nice, safe and sober Easter.

BTY

Sobriety makes it possible to enjoy and appreciate the meaning and purpose of a Holiday.  Happy Easter to everyone, Mike D.

Gratitude is a big part of life AND sobriety ... I well remember the 'holiday' drinking episodes ... and don't miss them one bit...

Yes, Sobriety is the best way to go! I celebrated my Easter for the first time Sober as well it was great! The smell of the wine everyone was drinking was actually making me feel sick, I'm guess thats a good thing!

My cousin told me he was up until 4 am last night, I responded what on earth where you doing up until 4? working late? he goes no drinking! I just thought to myself I am so greatful i'm not in that place anymore.

Sobriety for the WIN!
